Four Seasons Resort Orlando recently partnered with Dallas Shaw, an artist and style ambassador, to create several custom illustrations, finished in watercolor, of some of the resort’s signature spaces. Dallas has created illustrations for many iconic brands, from Chanel to Christian Louboutin to Carolina Herrera, and even Disney Style. She created a custom high-fashion illustration of Cinderella to announce a jewelry collaboration with Pandora. Now based in Wilmington, Delaware and Nashville, Tenn., Dallas once lived in the Orlando area and worked for Disney as an illustrator. Soon the resort will feature these signature drawings in various resort touches, as well as select merchandise available in the resort’s boutiques.
Dallas was a guest of the resort for several days to illustrate and watercolor paint the grand entryway chandelier, Capa steakhouse, the resort’s palm-tree lined pathway, and more. Here, she shares some favorite memories of her time at Four Seasons Resort Orlando.
Q: What was your overall favorite aspect of the resort?
A: The pools were my favorite part. Four Seasons Resort Orlando has a quiet oasis pool (which was my reading spot), a splash zone for kids, and it’s very own lazy river. I spent many an afternoon back and forth from the pool to hanging in the bamboo cabanas for a catnap.
Q: What was your favorite dish while here?
A: Executive Chef Fabrizio Schenardi invited me to dinner at Ravello and he prepared the best ravioli I’ve ever had—hands down. And that’s coming from an Italian. His fantastic company just made it even better. Also, I was lucky enough to catch a few girlfriends on the rooftop at Capa. We ordered Capa Tonic cocktails during sunset and it was the best night out…even though I never left the hotel 😉
Q: What do you love most about the spa?
A: As if the hotel isn’t already serene enough, I did love the extra zen I found in the spa. I tried the new Sticks and Stones massage. My therapist was so wonderful that he personalized the treatment based on muscle tightness.
Q: What did you enjoy most about the guestrooms?
A: The guestrooms were spacious and clean, but my favorite part was that I had my own balcony. It was so nice to have coffee out there each morning while catching up on work. The huge marble bathroom was amazing and mine even had a view from the bathtub.
Q: What surprised and delighted you about the resort’s boutiques?
A: The boutiques in the resort carry designer products and some that are exclusive to Four Seasons Orlando. I brought home a pair of Missoni Minnie ears, a few bathing suits from the spa shop, and even some cool sweats for my nephew. Looking forward to when I might see my own illustrations on products there!
A: Don’t get me wrong, I love all Four Seasons resorts, but this one felt different to me –in a very easygoing but equally luxurious way. I used to live in Orlando years ago, and while the hotel is on Disney property, I definitely felt like I was on an island away from any and all tourist attractions. It’s truly a vacation in itself.
